Since arriving
in the U.K a year ago, Lucho has been busy acquainting himself with
the National Curriculum requirements for maths and science which he
has found useful in his job teaching maths and science in a busy
Bristol secondary school. Patience and an easy going outlook have
enabled Lucho to cope with the constant pressure of working with a
high volume of pupils with challenging behaviour.
Lucho has also
been employed by Barnardos, the children’s charity, as a maths and
science tutor at Erondu (Supplementary school for children of
Afro-Caribbean heritage).
In Australia,
Lucho held the post of research and training officer with South
Australia Science Centre. He supported local secondary schools in
developing and delivering science based projects.
Lucho’s previous
post was as an outreach tutor attached to a local community centre,
teaching basic skills (numeracy and literacy) to excluded children
and their families.
In Chile (his
country of origin), Lucho worked closely with fishing communities on
regeneration projects, exploring viable methods of ecological and
economic sustainability.
